Clwydian Range and Dee Valley draft AONB Management Plan 2020-2025

Hello.

We're consulting on our draft management plan for the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for 2020-2025.

What is the AONB?

Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) and National Parks contain some of the most beautiful, spectacular and dramatic areas of countryside in Wales. These are landscapes of national importance with designation conferring the highest status for the conservation of landscape. Millions of visitors enjoy these special qualities every year.

Where is the AONB?

The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB covers approximately 390 square kilometres, stretching from the coastal hills near Prestatyn to the north and extending as far south as the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Berwyn Mountains. The AONB includes land in the counties of Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham and is managed by the three unitary authorities (county councils) for these areas. Denbighshire County Council is the lead authority in the joint AONB committee.

What do we want to know?

In late 2020, Denbighshire County Council on behalf of the joint AONB committee carried out a public and stakeholder consultation which was used to help develop this draft management plan.

Now that the draft management plan has been written, the AONB committee are keen to understand whether the contents and aims of the plan accurately reflect what people told us was important.
