Working Start Project

Why are we doing this?

Working Start Project

This project will help us to deliver our Corporate Plan priority around Young People, where we aim for Denbighshire to be a place where younger people will want to live and work and have the skills to do so. You can read more about our Corporate Plan 2017-22 by clicking here.

What will the Working Start Project help us to achieve?

The main aim of the Denbighshire Working Start project is to:

  • Develop a skilled employable workforce within the County of Denbighshire, which will support the development of staff within the Council, but also provide the residents of Denbighshire, of all ages, with a level of work experience that will allow them to maximise the work opportunities presented to them in both the private and public sector.

What are we proposing to help us achieve our aims?

We are proposing: This project will help us to deliver our Corporate Plan priority around Young People, where we aim for Denbighshire to be a place where younger people will want to live and work and have the skills to do so. You can read more about our Corporate Plan 2017-22 by clicking here.

We are proposing:

  • A diverse range of paid and unpaid work experience opportunities across the council that can be accessed by school learners, people from vulnerable backgrounds, returners to work, and those new to work, to help increase their employability skills.
  • Support for both participants and providers through one-to-one mentoring.
  • Opportunities to increase the number of employees on a career development scheme.
  • Advice to Denbighshire businesses on developing their own graduate and staff development programmes.
