Employment Bursary for Young People

Why are we doing this?

Young Person Employment Bursary

This project will help us to deliver our Corporate Plan priority around Young People, where we aim for Denbighshire to be a place where younger people will want to live and work and have the skills to do so. You can read more about our Corporate Plan 2017-22 by clicking here.

What will the Young Person Employment Bursary project help us to achieve?

The main aims of the Young Person Employment Bursary project are to:

  • Grow a high skilled workforce in Denbighshire through training, advice and development opportunities that meet the needs of young people (aged 18-35) and allow them to progress in their chosen career.
  • Support the growth of local businesses by promoting the opportunities that they provide to young people in Denbighshire.

What are we proposing to help us achieve our aims?

We are proposing:

  • Funding of up to £2,000 for young people aged between 18-35 who apply to us through the scheme. This funding may be used for further education courses, Commercial Vehicle Driver Training, and professional skills and training, such as AAT, NVQ, City & Guilds. Applicants must live in Denbighshire, work at least 16 hours a week, and earn below £20,326.
  • Careers advice to help young people make more informed choices to support them in the work that they want to do.
